MC Quintet: A Heritage of Quality and Innovation
Jun 14, 2024
Ortofon's history is marked by a constant commitment to the continuous improvement of analog sound quality and the creation of new cartridges, demonstrating exceptional resilience over the decades. Since 1948, nearly 100 moving coil models have been unveiled by Ortofon. The new cartridge series, the MC Quintet, asserts itself as the worthy heir to this lineage, confirming Ortofon's position as a world leader in the manufacture and supply of phono cartridges.
The MC Quintet series represents the direct result of Ortofon's unwavering commitment to accurate and faithful sound reproduction without alteration: The body, fashioned from a special lightweight and impact-resistant ABS (Acrylonitrile/Butadiene/Styrene) thermoplastic material, offers a durable and scratch-resistant surface thanks to the injection molding technique.
Carefully integrated neodymium magnets ensure optimal output.
A reduced internal impedance makes the cartridge less sensitive to load, thus ensuring wide compatibility with various preamps and transformers.
Mounting Quintet cartridges is simple and secure thanks to the included screws. The aluminum frame has threaded mounting holes and can be easily secured with 5 mm or 7 mm screws, depending on the headshell thickness. The Quintet series' right angles, straight lines, stylus visibility, and ample distance between the record surface and the cartridge base simplify the mounting process and ensure precise alignment between the cartridge and tonearm. This series offers excellent performance with most popular tonearms.
Ortofon's ongoing commitment remains unchanged: to provide its customers with countless hours of new and captivating listening experiences as they explore their treasured vinyl collections. The MC Quintet series marks a bold chapter in this relentless pursuit of sound quality and innovation, boldly continuing the tradition of excellence established by Ortofon for generations.
Each of the five cells in the Quintet series presents its own distinctive sonic imprint, thus constituting a collection of five classical variations:
MC Quintet Mono : A true mono cartridge specially designed for playing mono microgroove vinyl records.
MC Quintet Red : A versatile cartridge offering an open and dynamic sound, enhanced with a slight touch of warmth.
MC Quintet Blue : By adding dynamism and resolution, it offers a more open sound and reproduces more details.
MC Quintet Bronze : Going even further in terms of detail and resolution, it does so fairly, respecting every element of the recording.
MC Quintet Black S : The ultimate, true-to-groove performance with unmatched resolution and precision for every recording.
Thus, the MC Quintet series maintains Ortofon's long tradition of excellence by presenting a variety of options that will satisfy the most demanding audiophiles.
