Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX Controller

The best of the different controllers

Numark's Mixtrack Platinum FX was launched alongside its sister model, the Mixtrack Pro FX. The intention was to provide two entry-level controllers perfect for different needs. The Mixtrack Platinum FX was equipped with a wider range of features, with 4-deck control and two integrated displays, while the Mixtrack Pro FX, with 2-deck control and a scratch creator on the jog wheels, has everything needed for scratch performances. In both models, Numark integrated components from larger and more expensive controllers and mixers, ultimately fulfilling its mission of creating unique entry-level controllers. The high-quality jog wheels and FX performance levers, which actually come from Numark's Scratch mixers, are particularly notable. Both variants of the Numark controller are optimized for Serato DJ and include a Serato DJ Lite license.

Various connections
In addition to a USB port, which serves both for connection to a PC or laptop and for power supply, there is a stereo RCA master output and a microphone jack input for connecting a microphone or other sound sources on the back. The microphone input and main output can be easily adjusted using the two controls in the upper corners of the controller. For previewing the next track, there are two headphone connections on the front of the controller, consisting of a 3.5mm jack and a 6.35mm jack. The device's integrated sound card operates in 24 bits at a sampling rate of 44.1kHz.

Ideal for beginner DJs

The Mixtrack Pro FX is already the fourth version of Numark's Mixtrack controller. With a very stable, high-quality construction and even better jog wheels, Numark is launching the best version of the Mixtrack yet. As a classic two-channel controller, the Mixtrack Pro FX is primarily aimed at novice DJs. In combination with the effect buttons, the creative use of effects can be learned in a playful way, while the two displays on the jog wheels help you never lose track. Thanks to the integrated four-deck control, increasingly elaborate DJ sets can be created and practiced. DJ beginners thus benefit from a constant overview of the currently playing tracks.

About Numark
Numark, headquartered in Cumberland, Maryland, USA, was founded in 1971 by Harry and Robert Kotovsky. Numark's professional DJ equipment became popular upon its launch, and the company immediately gained a reputation as a leader in the industry. Numark quickly demonstrated what would become the company's focus: innovation and technology. Many of its now-older products, such as the DM1775 mixer or the CD5020 dual CD player, are still in use today. Their design already reflected Numark's ability to innovate in terms of functionality and design in the DJ industry. Following this tradition, the DMC-1 was the first DJ software controller to hit the market, soon to be followed by many others.

Effects controls
The FX performance levers, already familiar from scratch battle mixers, allow for quick and intuitive effect control, something difficult to achieve with a conventional FX knob. A simple tilt of the FX performance lever is enough to trigger the desired effect. When the FX performance lever is tilted upwards, it clicks into place, activating the effect, until it is tilted back to the other position. However, if the lever is tilted downwards, the effect is only active as long as it is held down. If you release it, the lever automatically returns to its original position and deactivates the effect. This allows for quick and easy control of effects with just one finger.
